New Zealand’s list of banned baby names

why will you give your child such names as“Lucifer”and "anal"  ?

In New Zealand, new parents have to get approval before naming a baby and not every moniker passes the test. In fact, according to CNN the list of banned baby names is growing. 

New Zealand isn't the only country to restrict baby names. Sweden has a similar system with the government having power to veto names. In Denmark parents can choose from a list of 7,000 approved names. In Germany a parent must run their baby name by the local office of vital statistics; the government asks that the name indicate the baby’s gender and not negatively impact the well-being of the child. 

Here is a list of some the names banned in New Zealand since 2001 -- and how many times they came up

EUROPEAN CENTRAL BANK CUTS INTEREST RATES

The European Central Bank reduced its main refinancing rate from 0.75 percent to 0.5 percent today. The rate sets what banks pay to borrow money for a week or more.

The interest rate cuts – the first change in interest rates in ten months – indicate Europe’s central bankers are concerned about falling inflation and rising unemployment in the euro zone.

The ECB also cut its rate for overnight borrowing from 1.5 percent to 1 percent. The central bank’s deposit rate remains at zero.
