Kim Kardashian skips sister Kylie Jenner's Sweet 16th birthday to attend funeral of Kanye West's grandfather

Mr Williams had passed away on August 10, just a fortnight after his 98th birthday.

A source confirmed to People magazine: 'That's why they weren't at [sister] Kylie's birthday.

'They brought North, too. Her first trip.'

Despite the fact they had not been together long it seems Kim, 32, had already made an impression on Mr Williams, as back in February he voiced his approval for his grandson's girlfriend, calling her 'beautiful.'

He added: 'And she's just as sweet as she is beautiful. That's what I liked about her!'

However it seems the blissfully happy showbiz couple were still mindful they were missing out on Kylie's milestone party on Saturday.

So in their stead they sent along some very special guests as their replacement, Kanye's hip-hop chums Drake and Big Sean.

Kim also took the time to send her sister a tweet, saying: 'Happy Birthday to my baby sis @kyliejenner !!!! Can't believe your 16! I love you so much!'

The rest of the family, including Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and parents Kris and Bruce enner, were in attendance at the Alice in Wonderland-themed bash, with the notable exception of Khloé's NBA star husband Lamar Odom.
