SHOCKING: Donkey meat to be embraced in Kenya

After worldwide condemnation over consumption of donkey meat, a new initiative is aimed at embracing breeding of donkeys for meat in the country.Donkey Sanctuary Kenya (DSK) are heading the new progranmme, encouraging the consumption of donkey meat as a new 'delicacy', so to speak.
The DSK is aiming to get Kenya onboard, namely all 42 tribes.DSK Managing Director, Dancun Onduu revealed a census conducted two years ago indicated there were 1.8 million  donkeys in  Kenya. He emphasised plans are in motion to accommodate for the consumption of the growing food source, “We will encourage quick breeding of  donkeys, especially for meat”, via The Standard Digital.

The DSK is however also responsible for the livelihood of the donkeys and encourages proper treatment of the animals, in light of the growing amount of cases related to ill-treatment of donkeys. Cases of  donkeys being slaughtered and meat sold to unsuspecting buyers have been rampant in  Naivasha, says The Standard Digital.
