PICS:  man to divorce his wife after

seeing her naked on Facebook (+18

only)

A man has decided to divorce his wife after his friends told him they saw photographs of her lying in bed on Facebook.Dennis Mweene told the Lusaka Local Court that his wife’s behaviour was unbecoming for a married woman as he stumbled on some messages she was posting on Facebook about men who are interested in her.

“One day I got shocked to hear from my friends that my wife had uploaded on Facebook photos of herself lying in bed,” he said.

He said his wife was also posting nasty messages on Facebook about men who were in love with her.

But his wife, Precious Chimbuchimbu, 26, of Ndola said Mweene is the one who has been behaving oddly as he has denied her sex for seven months.

This was heard before justices Hildah Choonya and Moses Phiri in a case in which Mweene has sued for divorce.

The court granted divorce and ordered Mweene to pay Chimbuchimbu K12,000 compensation.

A soft-spoken Mweene, spotting dreadlocks and a wrist band with Rastafarian colours, said their marriage had always been subjected to meetings because of constant fighting.

He accused his wife of disrespect and unwillingness to take care of his family.

Mweene told the court that he gave his ATM card to his wife to withdraw money for maintenance of a child he has out of wedlock but she demanded that the same amount be given to each of the two children they have together.

He told the court that Chimbuchimbu was not hospitable to their visitors and also does not respect him.

Mweene reported their marital woes to his wife’s uncle, who advised that should their problems persist, he should seek the court’s intervention.

In Solwezi, where they lived together briefly, he sought for advice from traditional marriage counsellors but to no avail.

In her statement, Chimbuchimbu said from the time they got married, their marriage had been turbulent.

Chimbuchimbu said three months into their marriage, a woman came to their home claiming Mweene had impregnated her but forced her to abort.

She said Mweene works out of town and only stayed with her for two days and when he went out with friends he stayed late and sometimes did not sleep at home.

“He has a girlfriend in Solwezi, where he works, and he doesn’t want me to go and live with him,” she said.

She told the court that when Mweene started work at Lumwana, he had a child with her friend’s niece.

Chimbuchimbu also said her husband had been telling people that he was a bachelor.

An emotional Chimbuchimbu told the court that when she visited him in Lumwana, people started calling her a prostitute upon seeing them walking hand in hand because Mweene and his friends took different women to their quarters.

In 2012, when she became pregnant, Mweene demanded she aborts but she refused after which he got some medicine and forced her to drink leading to an abortion.

She said her husband has two children out of wedlock whom he had been demanding they live with and had been denying her sex for seven months now.

She told the court that because of Mweene’s reckless lifestyle, she feared for her health but she still loved him and did not want their marriage to end up in divorce.
